Our Story

1888

Despite the fact that the production of red dry wines under the Mukuzani brand is carried out in many well-known enterprises, the traditional method of producing this wine was almost forgotten in the village Mukuzani. Apart from the start-up of one or two enthusiasts, there was not a single winery in the village that would make Mukuzani the way the locals had been doing it since 1888.

2019

Opening

Our primary objective has always been to bring together local specialists, winegrowers, ethnologists, winemakers, and more, to contribute to the revival of this village’s rich winemaking heritage. In 2019, we embarked on our journey by establishing a small enterprise in the beautiful village of Mukuzani. Here, only local residents are employed, and we craft exceptional wines using the renowned Saperavi grape variety grown exclusively in the Mukuzani microzone.

2022

First Vintage

In March 2022, we proudly bottled our first 2020 vintage of Saperavi and Mukuzani red wines, marking a significant milestone in our journey. This inaugural batch represents the passion, tradition, and expertise of our dedicated team, and we are excited to share these exquisite wines with our customers. The journey from our vineyards to your table has begun, and we look forward to celebrate many more vintages together.

2022

Major Milestone

In August 2022, we signed our first contract with the leading hypermarket chain, Goodwill, bringing our exceptional wines to a broader audience. In December 2022, we partnered with the Georgian Distribution and Logistics Company about selling production on the territory of Georgia. That enabled us to offer our wines nationwide.

2023

First Export

In March 2023, we made our first export to Germany, where our wines are now available through an online wine store, reaching a new international market and sharing the unique flavors of Mukuzani with a global audience.

2023

Rebranding

In November 2023, the company underwent a rebranding and changed its name. Previously known as “Mukuzan Traditional Winery,” we are now proudly called “Vinitor Mukuzani Winery.”

2024

New wines added to our collection

In March 2024, we expanded our collection with exceptional new varieties: for the first time, we bottled a line of white wines, Khikhvi (European style) and Khikhvi (Qvevri amber wine). Additionally, we introduced our new rosé wine, Vini Rosa.

2025

Entering the Chinese Market

In November last year, Mukuzani Wine marked an important milestone by entering the Chinese market.

Our first shipment included 5,000 bottles of Saperavi 2021 and Mukuzani 2021, introducing the richness and character of our red wines to new audiences.

This step represents an exciting new chapter for our winery, and we look forward to sharing our passion for Georgian winemaking with wine lovers in China.

2025

Success at the 13th Asia Wine Trophy

Mukuzani Wine is proud to share the outstanding results from the 13th Asia Wine Trophy, held under the patronage of the OIV in Daejeon, South Korea.

Our Mukuzani 2022 was awarded the prestigious Grand Gold Medal, while Saperavi 2022 received a Gold Medal, highlighting the quality and character of our wines on an international stage.

We are especially honored that Mukuzani 2022 was among only two Georgian red dry wines to achieve the Grand Gold distinction in 2025.

This recognition reinforces our commitment to crafting wines that express the richness of Georgian terroir and winemaking tradition.
